| Istanbul has
been voted the third best city in Europe and the seventh best city
in the world by readers of the American travel magazine Travel &
Leisure.
The readers were asked to rank cities on the basis of their
attraction as a holiday destination. The survey was based on a
series of questions put to readers rating the cities of the world
for their appeal as a visitor destination.
While Istanbul is
ranked on the third position of the European cities list, Rome has
placed on the first position. It is followed by Florence. The
ranking of European cities is:
1. Rome
2. Florence
3. Istanbul
4. Prague
5. Venice
6. Paris
7. Barcelona
8. Salzburg
9. Vienna
10. Kraków
The readers, who
asked to rank cities in the world, chose Istanbul as the seventh
best city in the world. Top of the list was the Australian city
Sydney, followed by the Thai capital Bangkok, with Italy’s Rome and
Florence in third and fourth places.
Cape Town in South
Africa, Oaxaca in Mexico and San Francisco rounded out the top ten.
